Ok - the solution was to use parts of the Koch tool and a 24 mm impact socket. The bushing needed to be rounded (tapped in) so the socket had something to push on. Once the bushing broke loose it started moving relatively easy.

The toughest part so far has been the control arm bushings . I also removed the bushings from the diff cover. This may have been a mistake as they seem to be available only when purchasing a new diff cover.
