Replacing Brakes & Rotors
Parts & Tools:
Turner Motorsport Brake Products
-brake pads front
-brake pads rear
-rotors front
-rotors rear
-3/8 socket driver
-16,17mm sockets
-5,6,7mm allen wrench/sockets
-screw driver
-torque wrench
-caliper piston compression tool
Step 1
-do not at any time once a caliper is removed, press the brake pedal in any way
-jack up your car using m3support's jack stand thread
-remove wheels using your 17mm socket
-to remove the clip use a screwdriver as seen in the picture
-as you press the clip toward the rear of the car it will allow you to pull it out from the two holes where it is latched
-be careful removing it,you don't want it to spring back and hit you in any way
-see the picture below to see the clip removed. Once pressed to the right it releases the latches that hold it into place under pressure
-disconnect the brake sensor wire and push it out of the way
-remove the upper and lower dust caps off the rear of the caliper. This will expose the 7mm allen bolts that holds the caliper to the carrier.
-find yourself a block of wood or something to rest the caliper on when you remove it. It will still be attached to the brake lines and will not reach the ground
-remove the 7mm bolts and pull the caliper back off the rotor
-remove the two 16mm bolts holding the brake carrier bracket and then remove the carrier.
-with the caliper and caliper carrier removed you can now remove the two 5mm allen bolts that hold the front rotor in place
-remove and replace the rotor with the new one. Three indicator pins will fit into position to install the new rotor correctly.
-tighten up the 5mm bolts and the rotor is installed
-use your caliper piston compressor to move the piston back into the full open position to clear the new rotor width
-move the piston slowly when compressing
-with your new rotor installed, bolt your caliper carrier back on
-as seen in the pic place the outside pad onto the carrier
-put the inside pad into the caliper into position and slide the caliper into place
-install the two caliper bolts and move on to the next
-repeat this process around the car until finished
-the rear rotors have 6mm allen bolts, different from the front
