VANOS Pump Disc Identifying Parts:- retaining clip
- washer
- oil pump disc
- guide ring
- sliders
- springs
- oil pump disc nipples
- remove retaining clip (#1) with a flat head screwdriver
- remove washer (#2)
- I used a magnet to carefully remove the oil pump disc(#3) with #'s 4,5 & 6 still connected
- the guide ring(#4) is holding four sliders(#5) and four compressed springs(#6)
- when the guide ring is removed, the sliders and springs will shoot out under pressure, be sure to be safe and not to lose anything
- a good method is to put the entire end of the vanos into a large plastic bag and remove while enclosed
- the oil nipples(#7) are under the springs, careful not to misplace them as well
ReInstalling the Oil Pump Disc:- make sure all 4 oil disc nipples are in place
- install springs in each hole and place the sliders onto the ends
- this is the tricky part. compress all 4 gliders and place them into the guide ring
- once in the guide ring properly you will very carefully install the pump disc with guide ring attached
- do this procedure inside a freezer bag if necessary to avoid losing any flying parts
- once installed add the washer and retaining clip and you are done
